Police effectively ban A category AR-15’s

Browse By

We have received reports from firearm dealers that police have decided, once again that they have the power to reclassify firearms.

In what appears to be an attempt to effectively curtail the import of A category AR15 firearms and parts, Police have classified all AR15’s and their parts crossing the border as MSSA. Unaware importers are now having their shipments seized.

What does this mean for the layman? It means that dealers can no longer stock barrels, gas blocks, handguards, triggers etc that fit AR15 rifles. Also if you want to import any parts yourself from overseas for your A category AR rifle, you will need to apply for an import permit with special reasons. If you don’t have an E endorsement, we don’t know where this leaves you.

This appears to fly in the face of the High Court decision reached in the Lincoln vs Police case, from the thumbhole stock debacle circa 2008/2009. Police do not have the authority to reclassify firearms.

At the end of the day, this isn’t just about a certain firearm type being arbitrarily restricted. It is about the supposed relationship that the incoming Minister of Police Stuart Nash MP instructed police arms control to build with firearm license holders. This is a slap in the face to all of us.

At this stage we are unsure if Police Minister Stuart Nash MP is aware of this legal travesty.

We will be posting more later today. Please stay tuned for more information.
